Released December 10, 2007, the Study includes three research efforts to estimate the annual number, dollar value, and composition of non-cash payments in the United States. For this Study, non-cash payments included check, automated clearinghouse (ACH), credit card, debit card (both signature and PIN) and electronic benefits transfer (EBT) transactions. The study also estimated the number and value of ATM withdrawals. Speakers present a summary of this landmark Study with a variety of meaningful illustrations.

Instructors in this intermediate-level course will build upon basic concepts of origination and receipt and provide a deeper and clearer understanding of transaction data used to help mitigate risk and improve quality in the ACH Network. This course explores observations from analyses of forward and return consumer ACH debit transactions. Gain an understanding of what is flowing through the ACH Network, what consumer debit transactions are used for, and what patterns of use and misuse show about the quality of ACH transactions. Learn what additional studies are planned, and how this information is being used to augment quality improvement initiatives on the ACH Network.
