Government Relations

NACHA maintains formal relationships with key industry audiences, including the Federal Reserve System and the U.S. Department of Treasury and responds expeditiously to regulatory and government relations issues. NACHA's dual focus includes (i) advising regulators, Congressional committees, members of Congress and staff, and other government agencies about the Automated Clearing House (ACH) Network, and (ii) member relations, providing information and assistance so that members can understand and respond appropriately to government initiatives that affect the ACH Network and its participants.

To that end, NACHA established the Government Relations Advisory Group (GRAG), which consists of representatives from NACHA's member Direct Financial Institutions, Regional Payments Associations, and Industry Councils. GRAG's objective is to promote use of the ACH Network and to protect the interests of Network participants. Advisory group members (i) review and contribute to NACHA's overall public policy development, (ii) advise on policy priorities, and (iii) assist in NACHA position development on specific payments system issues, including testimony and requests for comment by government agencies on proposed rules.
